About. These images and stories were shared by high school students from the Emerging Leaders Program, a Virginia Commonwealth University Health System (VCUHS) initiative to reduce the high prevalence of youth violence in Richmond. VCUHS is partnering with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond (BGCMR), the Virginia Commonwealth University Police Department (VCUPD), and the Richmond Police Department (RPD) to reduce the number of youth involved in violence by providing programs and services like this photovoice project that encourage positive behavior with healthy outcomes.

Our GoalPhotovoice has three main goals:
1.To help those who are often unheard to gain a voice. 2.To come to a clearer understanding of a community’s circumstances and the economic, social, psychological and political forces that shape them. 3.To bring about change that will improve conditions and enhance lives by reaching and influencing policy makers. |
